Camping Choices for Creation Festival

For those of you looking for other camping options during Creation Festival 2011, my sister and I took a day trip to check out campgrounds in the area. We recommend the following, although most of them, which are 20-40 minutes from Agape Farm, probably are already booked for that weekend:
  • Lake Raystown Resort Lodge and Conference Center
  • Lake Raystown Family Camping Resort
  • Pleasant Hills Resort
  • Happy Trails Campground
  • Seven Points Campground at Raystown Lake
  • Trough Creek State Park
  • Cowans Gap State Park
You will enjoy any Pennsylvania State Park, but I only included the two above because the others are more than 45 minutes from Agape Farm.

Search Results for Campgrounds Near Shirleysburg, Pennsylvania within 20 miles:

Pennsylvania, Hesston: Seven Points Campground

Distance: 14.74 Miles NW

Raystown Lake is a beautiful lake, and the Army Corps campgrounds are excellent; however, there are no sites available for the July 4th weekend (the last I checked). There are some private campgrounds near Seven Points -- I'll look for my notes and post information on them when I get the chance.

Pennsylvania, Huntingdon: Greenwood Furnace State Park

Distance: 14.88 Miles NW

Although the directions indicate that this State Park is only 15 miles away, we found this not to be the case and did not bother to drive to this park since it seemed to be an hour or so from Agape Farm.

Pennsylvania, Burnt Cabins: Ye Olde Mill Campground

Distance: 18.06 Miles SW

This small RV park has a nice store and friendly staff, but it is basically an RV park (if I recall correctly, it has full hookups). If you are looking for a true camping experience, Cowans Gap State Park is 8 miles from here, and it is a beautiful park (we had many family reunions there when I was a child). Cowans Gap is probably an 40-minute drive on back roads to Agape Farm.

Pennsylvania, Lewistown: Waterside Campground and RV Park (formerly known as The Locust)

This park is along the river near an industrial area where a good number of sites are seasonal, with campers permanently on site. The sites are a nice size but this park is about 40 minutes to Agape Farm. There is a private campground that we passed 20 minutes before -- I'll look for my notes and post the information when I get the chance.

Distance: 24.36 Miles NE
